Magnetic Records is an independent record label located out of Detroit, Michigan.

Vision: To become a well renowned organization that’s impactful with inspiring and motivating individuals/groups to strive for excellence on all spectrums of life.

Mission: To have artists that will motivate and inspire individuals through sound music that’s relevant to everyday life experiences.

About Us

Magnetic Records Inc. is an independent record label that’s located and operated out of Detroit, Michigan. Founded in 2005 by Jason Taylor “Big J”, the label’s primary genre was Hip-Hop and R&B. Currently they have expanded with different subsidiaries & affiliations such as Magnetic Mainestreet, Wiz Boi Beats, Mainestreet Productions, etc., which takes on multiple genres of music, video recordings, and various types of entertainment showcases. Artists that are currently signed to the label are Juzby, ISOUL, D-Rek Da Great, Big J, and Passion Da Boss.

Juzby

Detroit's very own up-and-coming hip-hop artist Juzby.

Drawing inspiration from the gritty streets of the Motor City, Juzby has crafted a unique sound that blends Hip-Hop, Neo Soul, and Blues to create a style that’s unmistakably Detroit.

Born and raised in the heart of the city on Detroit’s infamous east side 7-mile area, Juzby has always been drawn to music. Growing up, he would spend hours listening to his grandfather’s record collection, soaking up the sounds of Motown, Jazz, and Classic R&B. At the age of 16, Juzby started writing his own songs, drawing from his own experiences and the stories heard from those around him.

With a powerful voice that can soar over a hard-hitting guitar riff or croon over a soulful ballad, Juzby’s music is both raw and emotional. His lyrics are honest and heartfelt, touching on themes of love, loss, and the struggles of everyday life.

Songwriter, composer, and studio musician, Juzby is a musical force to be reckoned with. His discography consists of several mixtapes and singles that have already captivated many across the globe. His passion for music has carried him throughout the years and has been a constant source of inspiration for his work. In January 2023 he signed with the Detroit based independent label “ Magnetic Records Inc.” as of January 2023.

ISoul

Ismaelsoul is an artist/entertainer with multiple talents ranging but not limited to singing, writing, artist development, vocal coach actor, etc. He was born in Mississippi, however he was raised in Detroit, Michigan. His family migrated to Motown in search of bigger and better opportunities. His musical talents were discovered at a young age when his mother caught him singing “Ben” by Michael Jackson. On this day Ismaelsoul was discovered. His mother enrolled him in the church choir and he learned musical arrangements and how to play the drums.

He has performed in many states and multiple venues such as the Hart Plaza, the Motor City Casino, MGM Casino, Greektown Casino, Alysium/White House, Zoo Bar, Club Blue, many festivals, weddings, etc. He grew inspiration from artists such as Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Donny Hathaway, Sam Cook and a host of legendary Motown entertainers. His influences today are the likes of Marvin Gaye, Lauryn Hill, Jill Scott, India Iree, R. Kelly, and other Neo Soul artist/musicians. As his music digs down deep into the root of the soul with informative and inspirational messaging, ISoul considers himself to be a Marvin “2 Pac” Soul singer with a deep hip-hop influence.

D-Rek Da Great

Derrick Gill “D-Rek Da Great” is a hip-hop artist that who also does audio engineering, sound recordings, rapping, writing, and acting. He was born in Flint, MI and he currently resides in Detroit, MI. He started rapping at a young age in which he grew inspiration from his mother, uncles and family members “playlist” (blues, Motown, early hip-hop artists, etc.). In 2001 he started working with his cousin Big J and they started a group called Midwest Mafia. The group released underground music for approximately four years. In 2005 D-Rek started a production company/record label called Wiz Boi Beats. Along with running his own label he works with Magnetic Records as an artist, an engineer and a producer.

By his art of storytelling, he helps paint a picture of the hood, fun times, club vibes, and reality through his music. He currently has many hits and songs across all streaming platforms.

Big J

Jason Taylor “Big J” is a Hip-Hop artist that has multiple talents ranging from, rapping, audio engineering/ mixing & mastering, producing, artist management & development, writing songs & films, acting, etc. Born in Flint, Michigan yet raised in Radcliff, Kentucky, Big J’s love for music began at a very young age, in which he took a liking to Hip-Hop, R&B, and Blues. Inspired by hip-hop culture and other independent yet mainstream Urban Record Labels such as Def Jams, No Limit , Roc-A-Fella, Bab Boy, Rap- A-Lot, SoSo Def, etc. Big J established Magnetic Records Inc. in 2005. He then released his 1st mixtape titled “ Dat Authentic Shit” which was an underground sensation in 2007 reaching individuals from Detroit to Arizona. His 2nd mixtape “F.O.E. (Family Ova Everything)” was also a great underground album with many hits from the top to the bottom.

Big J took a hiatus from the music business due to equipment failure and life changes, however he returned in 2021 with the album “Still Authentic” which is available on all music streaming platforms. He currently has a single called “One Life” which is released from his upcoming album titled “Sky’s The Limit” which is due to come out sometime in the spring of 2024. His music is very inspirational, informative, and something to vibe to. Working as the CEO of Magnetic Records Inc. he wears multiple hats and is always looking for new talent and ways to advance in the entertainment industry

Passion Da Boss

LaShanta Johnson “Passion Da Boss” is an up and coming artist that was born and raised Detroit, Michigan. She has multiple talents ranging from singing, rapping, writing music, movies, and short films. Her love for music was developed at a young age, in which she was inspired by artists such as Brandy, Missy Elliot, Mc Lyte, and Queen Latifah. Two of her greatest passions is writing and singing
